Modeling of Broadband Light Source for Optical Network Applications Using Fiber Non-linear Effect
نویسنده
چکیده
Vision towards establishing an all fiber configuration is the motivation behind this work. With the increasing need for high capacity communication systems, Broadband sources have become a necessity. Broadband optical sources are an integral part of multichannel high speed fiber optical communication networks based on all-optical WDM and OCDM. FWM (Four-Wave Mixing) effects and SC (Super Continuum) phenomenon in fibers are used in the design of broadband optical sources. The spectral slicing of the broadband spectra has been proposed in literature as a simple technique to create multiwavelength optical sources for wavelength division multiplexing applications. The objective of this work is to develop an accurate model for simulating FWM and SC based broadband optical spectra and compare their performances. The modeling work is carried out using SIMULINK in MATLAB 7.10.0(R2010a).

Suppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System
Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...

Broadband, low loss and cost-effective transmission capability of optical fiber links has led to an ever-increasing interest in their use for the generation and distribution of millimeter-wave (mm-wave) signals for broadband wireless access networks and sensor networks. In this paper, some new techniques in photonic generation of mm-wave signals for radio-over-fiber (RoF) network applications a...

After characterizing the Raman scattering in a fused silica polarization-maintaining microstructure optical fiber, we built a fiber-based two-photon light source of high spectral brightness, broad spectral range, and very low noise background at room temperature. The resulting bright low-noise two-photon light can be used for a number of quantum information applications.

We propose a new broadband light source (BLS) based on the mutual injection between two ARcoated F-P LDs. We demonstrate colorless operation of WDM-PON by using the proposed BLS and Manchester coded data. The passive optical network (PON) based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) has been investigated for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH). The WDM-PON is very attractive to provide almost unlimited...
